National Maths and Physics SCITTPosted on: 17/11/2017
Wycombe High School is delighted to have been designated lead school status for a National Maths and Physics SCITT (NMAPS). This new DfE initiative is designed to help address the shortage of Maths and Physics teachers by offering trainees the best experience during their ITT. The programme will offer the benefits of on-the-job offered by a traditional SCITT with the enhanced focus on subject knowledge and pedagogy normally offered by a university based course, delivered by experienced, practising teachers. A collaboration between the state and independent sectors, trainees on this programme, will gain exposure to the full range of English teaching organisations. The programme will begin with a residential ‘pre-induction’ course and will provide trainees with professional networking and development opportunities through links with key professional associations such as the Mathematical Association and Institute of Physics .
